Education
All candidates must meet an educational requirement to qualify for the CFP® Examination. Candidates may qualify either by completing an FPSC-Approved Education Program or through the Approved Prior Credential policies.
FPSC-Approved Education Program Path
By successfully completing an FPSC-Approved Education Program, candidates will qualify to write the CFP Examination. Candidates must attempt the CFP Examination within five (5) years of their program completion date.

Approved Prior Credential Policies
Candidates may be go direct to the CFP Examination if they currently hold one of the following credentials:
- Professional accountants (CA, CGA, CMA)
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)
- Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU)
- Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA)
- Members of provincial law society
- PhD in finance, business or economics
- CFP credential from another country
- PI. Fin. From Quebec
