Examination
Upon satisfying educational requirements, candidates are eligible to write the CFP® Examination. The current CFP Examination is a six-hour, multiple-choice examination.
There is only one examination sitting left for the current CFP certification process: June 12, 2010. Registration for the Examination is by application only and closes one month prior (May 12, 2010) to the applicable examination date. Registration is now open for the June 12, 2010 exam. Applications received by April 12, 2010 are subject to a fee of $550; applications received thereafter, until May 12, 2010 are subject to a fee of $650.

Qualifying and Applying for the CFP Examination
To determine if you can write the CFP Examination, review these checklists based on your application background:
FPSC Approved Education Path
- Have I successfully completed my FPSC- Approved Education Program?
- Have I acquired an official transcript from this educational institution indicating my success in all required courses from this program?
- Have I read the Guide to CFP Examination?
If you answered 'yes' to these questions, you are eligible to apply for the CFP Examination, and may do so online via FPSC Online Services.
Approved Prior Credential Policies
- Do I hold a credential acceptable under the Approved Prior Credential policies?
- Do I have a current letter from my conferring institution to show that this designation is in good standing?
- Where necessary, do I have an up-to-date, detailed resume and letter signed by my current employer verifying my three-year work experience requirement? See this PDF sample letter and resume for examples.
- Have I read the Guide to CFP Examination?
If you answered 'yes' to these questions, you are eligible to apply for the CFP examination and can apply for the June 12, 2010 CFP examination via FPSC Online Services.
