Revised Disciplinary Rules and Procedures
At a recent meeting of the Enforcement Policy Committee (EPC) a number of clarifications to the Disciplinary Rules and Procedures (DRP) were approved. An updated version of the DRP December, 2009 is now available on line at http://www.fpsc.ca/sites/default/files/documents/Disciplinary_Rules_and_Procedures_1.pdf.
Note in particular, the following changes:
- The term CFP Professional has been changed to FPSC Registrant to incorporate the new Registered Candidate status which will be effective July 1, 2010;
- If the conduct of a FPSC Registrant raises concern, Letters of Caution can be issued, where it has been determined that the full disciplinary process is not warranted;
- A provision has been added requiring all investigations be conducted as expeditiously as possible, and at the same time certain specified timelines have been expanded or removed;
- The name of the Ethics and Practice Committee has been changed to Enforcement Policy Committee to more accurately reflect its function; and
- The review by a Hearing Panel of Settlement Agreements and the resulting action it may take has been clarified.
